Description

Join a brand new 12-day cruise to the heart of the West Indies. From Cuba to Martinique, you will sail the idyllic waters of the Caribbean Sea to discover stunning islands, as well as historical and architectural landmarks.

You will board Le Ponant in Santiago de Cuba. This is the country’s second largest city and its historical district still bears traces of its past, with beautiful colonial houses.

Your yacht will first make its way east to reach the southern coast of the Dominican Republic. There, you will be able to admire the gorgeous white-sand beaches for which the country is famous, such as Bahia de las Aguilas, and experience the charms of the capital, Santo Domingo, listed with UNESCO.

From Basseterre, on St. Kitts, don’t miss the chance to visit the Brimstone Hill national park and its fortress, which is a wonderful example of military engineering in the 17th and 18th centuries.

When your ship calls at Antigua, you will have the opportunity to discover Nelson’s Dockyard and its port installations from the Georgian period.

After a stop in Les Saintes, dream islands where it is wonderful to swim, Le Ponant will call at Saint Lucia, known for its famous volcanic Pitons, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Day 1 - Day 1 SANTIAGO DE CUBA
Set at the head of a spacious bay that is surrounded by mountains, Santiago, Cuba’s second largest city, is one of the island’s oldest cities, founded in 1515. The city is known for its eclectic architectural styles that range from Colonial to Art Nouveau, as well as for its flourishing artistic and cultural scene.
Day 2 - Day 2 AT SEA ABOARD LE PONANT
During your day at sea on board Le Ponant, make the most of your free time and the comfort of your ship for a moment of rest or conviviality. If the weather is right, let yourself be tempted by a spot of sunbathing. This day without a port of call will also be an opportunity to do some shopping in the boutique and share the highlights of your cruise with the other passengers. As for lovers of the open sea, they will be able to visit the ship’s upper deck to admire the spectacle of the waves and perhaps be lucky enough to observer marine species. A truly enchanted interlude, combining relaxation, sharing and the pleasure of sailing on a yacht.

Day 7 - Day 7 BASSETERRE
On land as in water, thereﾒs plenty to do in St Kitts and Nevis, an island duo in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. British colonial architecture in Basseterre on St Kitts contrasts starkly with the surrounding tropical countryside, which offers hiking adventures and leisurely walks in the national park. However, most visitors come to the islands for the golf, beaches and watersports.
Day 8 - Day 8 ANTIGUA/NELSON'S DOCKYARD
Nelsonﾒs Dockyard is a historic shipyard in English Harbour, on Antiguaﾒs south coast. The beautifully restored 18th- and 19th-century buildings now house modern shops, hotels and marina businesses and beyond the Dockyard is a national park, dotted with old forts. The Naval Officerﾒs House houses the Dockyard Museum, which is dedicated to the harbourﾒs past and features a life-sized portrait of Admiral Nelson. Hillside paths in the park lead to some impressive viewpoints in Shirley Heights overlooking the bay.
Day 9 - Day 9 LES SAINTES
During the feast of All Saints in 1493, Christopher Columbus discovered this archipelago of nine islands that he named "The Saints". Today, only two of them are inhabited. Terre de Haut, in the east, is dominated by the Morne Mire hill; at the summit stands Fort Napoleon, paying homage to the islands' history. In the heart of the botanical garden, shared by iguanas and cacti, there is an exceptional view of the Baie des Saintes, one of the most beautiful in the world. On Terre-de-Bas, you'll be charmed by the authenticity of the village of Petites-Anses. Off the coast of the "Saints" archipelago, traditional fishing vessels sail the blue seas of the Caribbean. Don't turn down a coconut "tourment d'amour", a sweet treat you'll be offered when you disembark.
Day 10 - Day 10 MARIGOT BAY & SOUFRIÈRE
On the west coast of the island of St Lucia, Marigot Bay has been described as "the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean". The picturesque marina, steep rainforested hills and deep blue waters have provided the backdrop for movies and the palm-studded beach is a Caribbean dream. Swimming, snorkelling and deep-sea diving are superb here.Nestled in the crook of a breath-taking bay, the former capital of St Lucia is brimming with attractions. Soufrière is famous for The Pitons, volcanic spires that tower over the entrance to the town, and you will fall in love with its authentic Creole charm and warm friendly atmosphere. As well as diving and swimming off exquisite beaches, don't miss Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens for the mineral baths, one of the natural wonders of the Caribbean.
Day 11 - Day 11 FORT DE FRANCE
Located on the western coast of Martinique, Fort-de-France will amaze you by the splendour of its bay, a magnificent cut-out in the coastline, considered as one of the most beautiful in the world. At the harbour mouth, on its strip of land, fort Saint-Louis overlooks the capital city of Martinique. If you climb up to it, you can see some breath-taking views. Saint Louis Cathedral and the Schoelcher library bear witness to a secular history, intimately linked to the island’s story. Why not try some fresh coconut at the colourful Grand Marché. Two really pleasant places you can take a breather in, right in the heart of the city, are the garden of Balata and the Aimé Césaire park.
