Your ship will then chart a course south to reach Chennai, formerly Madras. This will be the occasion to discover the ancient temple of Kapaleshwara, dedicated to Shiva and built in the 7th century AD, as well as Kanchipuram, one of the seven Indian holy cities, and Mamallapuram.
Le Lapérouse will then reach Sri Lanka. From Trincomalee, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of historic city of Polonnaruwa, a fortified city from the 11th century, and the splendid golden Temple of Dambulla.
