Itinerary

ITINERARY CHANGES Our itineraries are updated regularly throughout the year based on customer feedback and to reflect the current situation in each destination. The information included in this Essential Trip Information may therefore differ from when you first booked your trip. It's important that you review this information prior to travel so that you have the latest updates. Due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, public holidays, political unrest or other factors, further changes may be necessary to your itinerary once in-country. Your group leader or local representative will keep you up to date with any such changes once your trip is underway. GIBB RIVER ROAD During ‘the Wet’ most 4WD roads and National Parks in the Kimberley are closed, including the Gibb River Road which in the wet season turns into a fully flowing river. Due to the region being mostly inaccessible, we only operate these trips through the dry months, usually April until October. Departures during the shoulder season (usually April/early May and October) are at some risk of road and National Park closures. In most cases we will try and operate an amended itinerary, depending on the extent of the closures. We reserve the right to amend itineraries at short notice, during any time of the year. ABORIGINAL & TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER CULTURAL EXPERIENCES & COMMUNITIES First Nations people have complex community obligations, and at times activities or experiences may be cancelled at late notice due to cultural commitments. In the case that we are unable to include planned activities with First Nations communities, we will endeavour to find a suitable alternative in the same or another destination on your trip.

Day 1 - Broome - Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek) - Windjana Gorge
Welcome to Broome! Or Rubibi, in the language of the Yawuru people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Broome is now located. Start your adventure straight away, setting off early this morning as you travel to the renowned ‘Boab Prison Tree’ and the start of the iconic Gibb River Road. Set up camp in Windjana Gorge National Park and enjoy lunch before heading to Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek) – a cave system carved through the Napier Range – to discover stalactites and a large variety of wildlife. Learn the legend of Jandamarra – an Aboriginal freedom fighter who used the tunnel as a hideout in the late 1800s. Towards sunset, you’ll arrive at your campsite for a delicious campfire dinner under the famous Kimberley night sky.
Day 2 - Windjana Gorge - Galvins Gorge - Mt Barnett Station
Spend the morning exploring the famous Windjana Gorge – a natural oasis in the outback where you’ll search for freshwater crocodiles, bird life and bushtucker. Cool off with an afternoon swim at Galvans Gorge among water lilies and boab trees and soak up the beautiful landscape. Tonight, you’ll be camping in Mt Barnett Cattle Station at a billabong oasis in the heart of Gorge country.
Day 3 - Manning Falls
Today, explore the remote and spectacular Manning Gorge, surrounded by high cliffs. Cross the meandering Manning River, either by swimming or by pulley boat (the kids might want to hop into the boat!), then take on a bushwalk to the impressive Manning Falls. The kids will love swimming in deep clear pools surrounded by a rugged natural landscape. In the afternoon, relax, swim and play games by the Manning River before your group gets the campfire going for dinner and marshmallow toasting.
Day 4 - Adcock Gorge - Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges - Silent Grove
Enjoy a morning swim in Adcock Gorge today, surrounded by rainforest and sandstone ranges. You’ll then travel to Silent Grove to set up camp and enjoy lunch before exploring the spectacular Bell Gorge in the ancient Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges. This idyllic retreat is home to cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear pools that were formed over millions of years ago. Enjoy dinner together before spending one last night under the stars.
Day 5 - Derby - Broome
Today you’ll return to the Gibb River Road as you head for the Norval Art Gallery in Derby. Here, you and the family can discover some of the great works produced by local Aboriginal artists. There is even an opportunity for the kids to have a go at producing their own! Later, you’ll arrive back in Broome where your trip comes to an end. If you’d like to extend your stay, just get in touch with your booking agent.
