Embark on an 8-day small ship adventure cruise along the east coast and see a side of this country that neither land-based travel nor big cruise-line tourism could deliver. From the whale-filled waters around Husavik in the north, to the far-flung reaches of Skalenes Nature Reserve, you’ll find yourself in a world of magical remoteness. Seize the opportunity to see the biggest glacial lake on the continent, mingle in small fishing communities, explore the ‘Pompei of the North’, and explore Reykjavik by foot. In your downtime on board the elegant M/Y Callisto, relax and watch the breathtaking scenery of fjords and cliffs and go by.

Itinerary

Travelling by sea is a fantastic way to explore, but it brings some challenges when weather conditions are not ideal. The itinerary may be subject to change, based on winds and sea conditions which may render anchorage and landing at some stops difficult. We reserve the right to change the itinerary for the safety of passengers and the ship. Shore excursions are subject to shore and weather conditions and are based on a minimum participation. Each days' schedule will be posted by the cruise co-ordinator listing necessary information such as arrival/departure times, meal times, days activities and other information. This is given as a guideline and is subject to change.

Day 1 - Embarkation in Akureyri
Embark mid afternoon and greet your fellow travellers. Perhaps take the option of a late afternoon walking excursion in Akureyri. Spend the night in the port. 
Day 2 - Akureyri to Husavik
Begin the morning by sailing towards Husavik, arriving around midday. Enjoy an optional whale watching boat tour in Skjlafandi Bay and a visit to the Whale Museum. Spend the night at sea.
Day 3 - Seydifjordur
A midday arrival in Seydisfjordur allows an optional afternoon excursion to Skalanes Nature Reserve, one of Iceland’s most remote places. It's so distant that few people, even Icelanders, have witnessed it.
Day 4 - Djupivogur
After an early morning sail to Djupivogur, enjoy an all day excursion to Glacier Lake, Europe’s largest glacier. Passengers rejoin the ship in Hofn port after a sightseeing tour this quaint fishing village.
Day 5 - Hofn
Embark on a full day optional excursion in the beautiful Hofn’s Hoffellsjökull glacier, where walks of various skill levels are possible around the glacier tongue and lake.
Day 6 - Heimaey Island
Discover Heimaey, also known as the Pompeii of the north. An optional half day excursion around this fascinating site reveals two volcanoes and includes a visit to the Eldheimar Geological Museum. 
Day 7 - Reykjavik
Take an all-day optional excursion in Reykjavik city, before readying your camera for a panoramic tour of the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula, Vikingaheimar, and the geothermal fields of Krysuvik.
Day 8 - Disembarkation in Reykjavik
Disembark in Reykjavik.
