Starting in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, your ship with sail up to the Boungainville Province where you will spend two days exploring the regions rugged beauty and traditional cultures, and significant WWII history.
Next on your itinerary, the tropical port town of Rabaul will fascinate you with its surrounding volcanoes, where you will join your expedition team for a tour of Mt Tavurvur and the Volcano Observatory , as well as witness the remarkable performances by the Baining fire dancers.
Your next port of call in Papua New Guinea will be the town of Madang where you will learn about the 170 different languages and various cultural groups of the area who will perform at the Madang Festival.
The lush forests and pristine foreshore of the Tami Islands in the Morobe Province wil be next on your itinerary with more encounters with local populations and traditional dance performances. Next on the itinerary is Tufi in the Oro Province where you will navigate the spectacular narrow fiords, before enjoying a warm welcome by villagers with traditional dances, then snorkel and swim in the nearby crystal clear lagoons and colourful coral reefs.
Last on your expedition itinerary, the Samarai Islands will reveal their rich past as a former thriving boat building industry.
Your expedition will end in Cairns, Australia, where your ship Le Lapérouse will be positioned alongside Trinity Wharf for disembarkation.
